What is UBL 3D Secure?

UBL 3D Secure is a free service provided by UBL to secure customer's ecommerce transactions performed from Visa and Mastercard through one-time password method in association with most of the leading online merchants. 3D Secure assists UBL Debit Card members to shop online with added protection and confidence.

Do customers really need to register for 3D SecureTM?

No enrolment is required as all Card members are automatically enrolled OTP will be sent to the mobile phone number or email in our records as per customer’s chosen option.

How does 3D Secure protects customers?

3D Secure provides an added layer of security by prompting for an OTP when customer makes an online purchase. This helps to protect against online fraud by verifying that the customer making the online purchase is the rightful owner of the UBL card.

Are there any charges for 3D Secure service?

No. this service is provided free of cost.

Can customer use one OTP for more than one transaction?

No, all 3d enabled websites will request customer to generate OTP for every purchase transaction.

For how long is the OTP valid?

Each OTP is valid for 10 minutes or one successful usage whichever is earlier.

Will customer receive an OTP for all my internet-based transactions?

Customer will only receive an OTP for internet-based transactions on 3D Secure enabled websites. For non – 3D Secure enabled websites, customer will not go through the OTP authentication process.

What happens if Customer have entered an invalid OTP?

Customers have three attempts to enter the correct OTP. After three incorrect attempts, card will be blocked for internet transactions for all 3d-enabled websites. To Unblock please call 111 825 888.

Will supplementary cardholder receive an OTP on their mobile number for internet-based transactions made using their Card?

Yes, supplementary cardholder(s) will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number and registered email address of the card.

What is the Bypass option?

In case customer is unable to receive an OTP, Customer can Call Centre to avail the bypass option for that particular transaction from their registered cell phone number. In case your number is not registered with UBL, call 111 825 888 for process details

How will customer know if the website is safe to use?

Look for secure transaction symbols when shopping online to ensure account information is protected. These include a lock symbol ( ) usually found on the right or left side of your browser’s address bar and a web address that begins with “https”. Always sign-out of any website after making a purchase. If customer can’t sign-out, close the browser window and clear your browser’s cache and history to prevent unauthorized access to account information.
