CSR 2012

The bank continued with its commitment to the causes of education, health and community betterment through its CSR drive in 2012. While honoring its long-term pledges with their annual contributions, UBL also sought out other worthy causes which fell in the ambit of the bank’s donation policy.

EDUCATION

Lums, IBA

LUMS and IBA, Pakistan’s premier business institutions continued receiving funds from UBL as part of CSR education objectives. The main objective behind these contributions was not just providing scholarships to deserving candidates and picking up their tuition costs at these institutes, but also to assist the schools in the development of their infrastructure, facilities and adding of more amenities to their students.

SOS Children's Village

The SOS Children’s Village was also another institute which received heavy contributions from UBL in 2012. The bank financed vocational training courses for 50 students through this project.

Sindh Welfare Association for Deaf

UBL,in collaboration with this NGO, undertook the financing of the latest computer equipment to enhance computer literacy amongst underprivileged deaf children.

HEALTHCARE

Friends of Burns Center

UBL continued its ongoing multiple year commitment with this unique healthcare center which aims to provide free medical treatment to underprivileged burn victims.

Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center

The bank continued to extend its support to Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center by donating towards the worthy cause of construction of the Garhi Dupatta Triple Merger ™ Center, a health center conducting regular free of cost OPDs and referrals for TB, leprosy, skin and eye patients who cannot afford them. The SOS Children’s Village was also another institute which received heavy contributions from UBL in 2012. The bank financed vocational training courses for 50 students through this project.

Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation

UBL also sponsored a Spring Festival organized by SIUT, well known for its state-of-the art medical facilities. The funds raised through this Festival were invested in providing free-of-cost urology and kidney related medical facilities to those who can’t afford them

Pakistan's Parkinson's Society

The bank donated to Pakistan’s Parkinson’s Society – a non-profit making organization which aims to provide quality care to patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease – through ads in their quarterly newsletter.

Al-Mehrab Tibbi Imdad

Furthermore, the bank also contributed to Al-MehrabTibbi Imdad, which is a unique hospice in Karachi taking care of terminally ill patients who cannot afford hospital treatment costs, medicines and accommodations. This hospital provides them with a safe and comfortable environment along with food and medicines.

COMMUNITY WELFARE

Subh-e-Nau

UBL contributed heftily to the National Tennis Championship conducted by Subah-e-Nau, a charitable institution that works towards the enhancement of environment, public health sports promotion and disability.

Inner Wheel Club Of Pakistan

UBL also donated generously towards the sponsoring of a fund raising dinner organized by Inner Wheel Club of Pakistan, an NGO that works towards underprivileged children’s health and education.

Sargodhian Spirit Trust

The bank also donated to Sargodhian Spirit Trust which was committed to building a school to provide quality education to boys between 13 and 18 years, residing in lesser developed areas of the country.

Karwan-e-Hayat

The Friends of Karwan-e-Hayat , which is a nonprofit charity organization dedicated to the cause of better mental health in Pakistan, hosted a fundraiser. UBL extended its support to the organization and its efforts through 50 entry tickets.

Mukhtar Mai Women's Organization
